RIDGE HOUSE

Boulder, Colorado • 7,890 sq ft

The 3rd Street Residence is a stunning modernist masterpiece nestled in the foothills of Boulder, Colorado showcasing the latest expertise and vision of the team at Watt Architecture. The Ridge House is an alternative design that branched off in early iterations. Its creation, beloved in the studio, established the heart, soul, and vision of 3rd Street early on in schematic development. Every project starts somewhere, usually somewhere half baked and craving thought, but the Ridge House fell together naturally from its unique hillside topography, spatial requirements, and material composition.

This design features the natural slope of the landscape to hold close the stunning views to both Dakota Ridge and the city of Boulder. Using minimalism, functionality, and natural light as paint brushes, the crescendo of this work is its deep connection with the earth. Expansive windows, intentional orientation, and seamless transitions between home and garden all serve to deepen the design’s connection to nature.

The Ridge House design continues to demonstrate Watt Architecture’s desire to create spaces that nurture, inspire, and engage surrounding communities to create architecture that endures.
