Overlooking Boulder Creek to the north and gazing upon the Flatiron Mountains to the south, each of the three net-zero homes at Streamside connect strongly with the natural environment while still envisioning the contemporary sensibility of an urban home in downtown Boulder. A modern interpretation of their context in time and place, each home is deliberately designed using a simple and refined palette of materials – wood, steel, glass, plaster – which dance between the balance of such dualities as warmth and strength.
The outdoor spaces reach towards nature as extensions of the inside, with folding doors and windows creating a seamless threshold between the two. These allow a plethora of light to flow effortlessly throughout the homes while holding the magnificence of the surrounding mountains in their views.
Based on years of building science experience, Watt Arch integrated a super-insulated building envelope, high performance windows and doors, energy efficient appliances and fixtures, along with their Advanced Air Sealing and Ventilation System. The Streamside Residences are modeled to perform as zero-energy homes, with every home providing its own source of energy each and every year.
